Blogsite Not Website

Posted on 29 January 2009

If you are confused by the benefits of a blogsite over a website you are not alone. Many people ask me “Sandra, why would I want a blogsite when I already have a website?” Others ask “Sandra, I hear that blogging is a great way to get my name out there but how do I start and should I have a website too?”  These are all good questions but let’s start with the basics.

What is a blogsite?

A blogsite is a blog with all the features of a website and much, much more. On the website side, you’ll have a static menu bar linking to your web pages (e.g. About Us, Contact Us). On the blog side, you’ll be able to publish posts, articles, promotions and tips without a degree in Computer Science. With a blogsite you’ve got the features of a website and the functionality of a blog all in one.

If you use a blogsite you won’t need a separate website or a separate blog. A blogsite is an “all in one” business tool!

What are the advantages of using a blogsite over a website?

A client of mine asked me to set up 3 blogsites for him. Within 3 days each of those blogsites were at the top 10 of Google’s list. One of them was #1, another #2 and the third blogsite made it to #7. We used WordPress to create his blogsites and posted 3 blog posts in each. Thats all we did to get him those fabulous results. It would take Google 6-8 weeks to find a static website and display it on it’s results.

My clients enjoy their WordPress blogsites because they have the freedom to update and add content on their site. If you ask the owner of a static website how long it takes them to update their site they’d say something like “It costs me $50 per change” or “I no longer update my site as it is too time consuming and frustrating”. Even I, the Tech Coach, doesn’t like updating html sites. In fact we stopped supporting html sites because we don’t want to go through that pain!

With a blogsite platform like WordPress you can add functionality to your site that would cost you tons of cashola. In fact adding functionality to your blogsite is free. You see, there are thousands of people around the world creating WordPress Plugins and they give them away for free. These plugins, or in plain English, accessories, can be added to your blogsite to enhance functionality, get better SEO results and build a community on your site. You can add a poll to your site, list all of your social networking links, make it easy for your visitors to email your post to their friends, add YouTube videos, add your podcast to your blogsite and much, much more!

As you can see, I could go on and on about WordPress Blogsites. If you want to know more visit our blogsite www.WordPressBlogsites.com to download the audio “So what is a Blogsite really?
