Reinventing USB Cable Chargers – They got it right this time!

Since smart phones came on to the market we have all faced one big problem, that is when our battery dies and we are no where near an outlet or we are near an outlet but we do not have our phone charger with us.

When I know I am going to be out all day I bring my charger with me. It gets all tangled up in my purse and gets in the way when I want to reach other items.  Anyhow, when I ask the host of the place I am visiting if I may charge my phone, the answer is always yes. However it becomes awkward to find an outlet that is not in their way or behind a couch! Then there are the times I am at a workshop where very few outlets are nearby and even fewer outlets not yet spoken for.

Wouldn’t it be great if you could charge your phone quickly in your car, via your laptop or your usb charger real quick without dragging around your phone’s charger? The folks at Nomad have thought this through and made usb charging (and syncing) convenient. They reinvented the USB cable and transformed into three products: NomadKey, NomadCard and NomadClip (coming Fall 2014). Each of the these products adapt easily to your everyday items and there are no cords to get tangled with your other cords.

NomadKey Lightning KeychainNomadClip Back The NomadKey attaches to your keyring and was designed to be in the shape a regular housekey so it makes itself invisible on your keyring.

The NomadCard is the shape of a credit card and fits into your wallet into a card slot. You likely always have your wallet on you and with the NomadCard you can always have your charger on you as well.

The NomadClip is shaped like a carabiner and can be clipped onto your bike, backpack or any other item you own that has a loop. It will be available in the fall of 2014.     NomadClip-Lightning-MacBook NomadKey Lightning TwistI personally have the NomadKey and NomadCard. I love that I will always be with one of my Nomad chargers and I don’t have to pack my bulky charger when I travel. I also love the materials used to make the chargers. You see the chargers are flexible and can be bent or twisted. When I first used my NomadKey to charge my Samsung SIII via my laptop, I didn’t like that my phone was charging with the screen was facing down. I like to have access to the screen while my phone is charging so all I did was twist the charger so that my phone now faced up. It’s too bad other USB chargers had not thought of this earlier, but Nomad did and I am thankful!

Each product is made with highly durable materials and available with Lightnignt Cable (for Apple products such as iPhone5, iPhone 6, iPads and iPad Touch (5th and 7th)) or Micro USB Cable (for Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry and more) options.

The redesigned NomadKeyNomadCard and NomadClip can be pre-ordered at hellonomad.com. Free shipping is available to the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia. If you need Nomad items to be shipped to another country, it can be for a flat $5 shipping fee! Not too shabby!Nomad_LiveSimple

  1. Sandra –
That is SO SWEET! Thanks for sharing this. My husband is forever losing his charging cord. If it is clipped to his key ring he will be more likely to have it with him. 🙂 I love the idea of the card and the clip for travel. Going to check these out today.

    • Stephanie,

I’m so happy to hear this solves a big problem for your husband. It’s so easy to lose your charging cord especially when you are traveling. I bet hotels have a bucket of phone chargers that people left in their rooms plugged by their bedsides.
